MEMPHIS, Tenn. — St. Mark’s Missionary Baptist Church in South Memphis has partnered with Love Little in Whitehaven to host a food giveaway.

Pastor Marvin Mims and volunteers give out food boxes to those in need.

Boxes will include milk, cheese and non-perishable food items.

Mims said the area is one of the poorest in Memphis.

The church said it anticipates serving 150 people.

“We are not rejecting anybody that has a need,” Mims said.

The drive-thru distribution will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday, but recipients are encouraged to arrive early.

The Memphis Police Department will direct traffic.

Recipients will not be required to show proof of residence or fill out any paperwork.

“We see all humanity having value and worth being created in the image of God,” Mims said. “So when they come we are not going to try to verify their income or status.”

Everyone is encouraged to wear a face mask.

St. Mark’s is located at 940 S Lauderdale St, Memphis, TN 38126.

“We get a great joy in seeing others and meeting the needs as other and we are just as happy as those who we serve,” Mims said.
