Suspect dies following officer-involved shooting, police chase in Nashville, officials say

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A Metro Nashville Police officer was shot last night while walking his dog, according to police.

The officer was off duty.

Officer Darrell Osment was shot in the shoulder around 9:05 p.m., according to police.

The shooting happened near the intersection of Pine Valley Road and Bull Run Road.

Osment, a 13-year veteran, is in stable condition, according to police.

The gunman who shot Officer Osment led officers on a pursuit through parts on North Nasvhille.

The gunman also shot at an officer who tried to spike his tires.

The pursuit ended on I-440 E near Nolensville Pike.

Officers exchanged fire with the gunman, who died at the scene.
