Westy’s serves annual Christmas Dinner to Memphis’ homeless and hungry

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Westy’s Restaurant, Lindenwood Christian Church and Operation BBQ Relief have teamed up to host their annual free Christmas Day Dinner for the homeless and hungry today.

The meal giveaway took place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Westy’s patio, located on the trolley line at 346 N. Main.

In accordance with the current health directive, the dinner was served to-go only, according to a release from the restaurant.

Westy’s was be closed to the public and onsite dining was not permitted.

Masks and required and social distancing were enforced, according to the release.

2020 marks the restaurant’s 16th year of giving out free holiday meals.

Over 30,000 meals have been cooked and served through the years by volunteers from the Memphis community.

Teams arrived to begin cooking food at 5 a.m., according to the release.
