Woman arrested in shooting of 5-year-old girl outside barber shop

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police have arrested a woman in the shooting of a 5-year-old child.

The shooting happened Oct. 2 on Park Avenue.

According to an affidavit, Lenora Garner shot the child while firing shots at another woman’s vehicle.

Four other children were in the vehicle and were not hit.

According to the affidavit, Garner and the woman became involved in a fight outside Supreme Cuts in the 3900 block of Park Ave.

After Garner began shooting, the woman discovered her 5-year-old daughter had been shot through her arm and the back of her shoulder.

After the woman flagged down an ambulance, the girl was taken to LeBonheur with non-life-threatening injuries.

Garner is charged with Attempted First-Degree Murder, four counts of Aggravated Assault and other crimes.
