‘Zip Tie Guy’’s mom arrested for involvement with son at Capitol riot, authorities say

Nashville, Tenn. — The mother of a man who has come to be known around the country as “Zip Tie Guy” has been arrested for her alleged involvement in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Middle District of Tennessee.

Eric Gavelek Munchel was arrested on January 10 in Nashville after photos of Munchel inside of the Capitol carrying zip ties surfaced, the Department of Justice said.

On Saturday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said that his mother, 56-year-old Lisa Eisenhart was also taken into custody by FBI agents in Nashville.

Eisenhart is accused of conspiring with her son to violate federal statutes. She has been formally charged with conspiracy civil disorders; restricted buildings or grounds; violent entry or disorderly conduct, according to the Department of Justice.

Munchel is charged with one count of knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and one count of violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.
