"It's two type of people in this world; creators and destroyers,” Houston said.
Houston’s son, Nazim Houston, Jr. was shot while walking home from a neighborhood store Wednesday night.
A witness told police they saw three teens running away from the area after the shots were fired.
Houston said after being shot, his son was taken to a nearby home on Dunlap.
"My son can't even walk to the store to get him some snacks,” Houston said.
The boy was sent to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in non-critical condition.
The father said doctors at Le Bonheur decided it would be too risky to remove the bullet from the boys thigh.
"They weren’t bothering nobody. I work everyday,” Houston said.
Police told FOX13 they located seven shell casings from the scene.
They said one bullet managed to hit the rear of a car parked on the street.
Police have not released any suspect information.
