Investigators received a call on Tuesday indicating an infant was possibly dead at a home in the Pitts Community on Rich Road. When deputies arrived, they found the deceased child.
The cause of death was ruled to be "thermal injuries," according to the Poinsett County Sheriff's Office.
The Jonesboro Sun reported Neal initially told police her daughter was placed in the dryer by a two-year-old.
The mother later changed that story and told investigators she may have placed the child in scalding water because the baby had diarrhea. She then became scared and put the child in the dryer, according to the report.
Neal was arrested and charged in her daughter's death. She is being held on a $1 million bond.
