Linda Rangel has lived on Crowe Road in North Memphis for the past 18 years. She told FOX13 she was shocked when she heard a woman’s body was found in the trunk of a car on her street.

“We’ve got everything from selling dope or whatever you know, but nothing like that. Not a murder,” Rangel said.

Officers said employees were doing inventory Monday morning when they found a body inside the trunk.

Homicide detectives from Memphis were sent to the scene.

FOX13 sent a crew to All Star Recovery to ask about the discovery, but employees declined to comment.

Neighbors told FOX13 they saw the car parked outside a vacant home for several days.

“I’ve seen it parked there for like five days,” Rangel said. “Five or six days.  I just didn’t think nothing of it. I thought it was the neighbor.”

A man who didn’t want to be identified said he also saw the car.

“Maybe two or three weeks ago somewhere up there,” he said.

FOX13 went to a local business just a few yards away from where neighbors said the car was parked to ask for any possible surveillance video of the area.

The business showed FOX13 a video of a car being towed away around 12:40 Monday morning.

Neighbors said they’re going to be more alert.

“It makes me wonder whether we could have saved somebody's life and we didn’t because we should have paid more attention,” Rangel said.”

Neighbors described the car as a grey Chevy Malibu.
