COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. - FOX13 has learned that a teen was sent to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after being assaulted.
The teen's grandmother told FOX13 he's in the hospital suffering from a brain bleed. He also has several cuts on his mouth and face.
The incident happened after dismissal when a 10th grader was jumped by three fellow students.
Collierville Schools released a statement saying the teen was transported to the hospital for further assessment and treatment after the assault.
The statement additionally said the student is now alert and recovering from his injuries.
The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is handling the case, and the students responsible for the assault have been disciplined, according to Collierville Schools.
