Positivity in the Mid-South has been overshadowed by a violent year.

In 2017, FOX13 is committed to highlighting stories that shine light on what makes the community great.

Over the past year, FOX13 took a deeper look into how to make a difference across the Mid-South. We partnered with a few organizations to create a school supply drive, which raised enough supplies for 10,000 students in 20 schools.

FOX13’s General Manager Paul Briggs has introduced “Family Focus” the station’s new community service initiative.

“Family Focus is FOX13’s effort for a year-long community service program,” said Briggs.

The program will highlight a new event, story or program every Friday.

“Our goal with Family Focus will be in the areas of health, education, conservation, community and safety,” said Briggs.

Previously, we partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help raise more than $600,000 and provide wishes to more 75 children.

“It’s resulting in drives to make our community stronger, it’s going to give people the information and resources they need to get help or give if they want to,” said Public Affairs Director Miranda Harbor.

Family Focus will move pass the headlines about crime, violence, heartache in our community and follow stories that impact and showcase greatness within the community.

“We’re stronger together than we are individually, we know that putting all of those resources together, we can make a lasting impact in the Mid-South,” said Harbor.
