• FOX13 Investigates: Police equipment upgrade costs

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. - FOX13 Investigates uncovered a piece of public safety equipment already owned by the Memphis Police Department is costing the taxpayers a quarter million dollars more.

    FOX13 has learned this is an extension to an already existing ongoing contract.

    A spokesperson with the Memphis Police Department confirms there are new features included with this upgrade that the police department did not have before.

    A former law-enforcement officer who is from Milyer with the technology offers insight into how the upgrade could help police keep the streets safer. 

    Chief investigative reporter Jim Spiewak looks into if the return on investment for the taxpayers is worth it.
