Benson was found guilty of killing 24-year-old Amy Hallmon around 1:30 a.m. on June 1, 2013 at a home in the 500 block of Burlington Circle.
Witnesses said Benson and Hallmon began to argue after the victim refused to have sex. The victim hit Benson in the nose and he then pulled out a gun and said,” I feel sorry for your kids.”
Benson shot Hallmon in the chest, shoulder and in the face. He then dragged her outside and left her in a pile of debris where he shot her two more times in the back.
