• Man found shot multiple times, dies in Memphis neighborhood

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis police are investigating a homicide in the 3400 block of Macon Road in North Memphis. 

    Officers found a man who was shot multiple times and pronounced dead on the scene.

    A woman said the victim was her sister’s boyfriend.

    She said her 15-year-old niece witnessed the shooting and watched the victim take his last breath.

    Police are still searching for the suspect tonight.

    Memphis police were dusting for fingerprints on the front door in the 3400 block of Macon Road, where a man was found dead. Coniese Earl’s sister was his girlfriend.

    “My mom was in there, I got a niece that witnessed the whole thing and she ain’t nothing but 15 years old, oh my God,” Earl said.

    Earl said her sister’s boyfriend was living at the rooming house where he was murdered.

    Several of Earl’s family members also lived there.

    “I got two boys, a girl, I have to raise out here, when the killing going to stop,” she stated.

    Earl said her niece and mother, who is in a wheel chair, were the only two people home when shots were fired.

    “From what I understand, he was robbed,” she said.

    A close friend of the victim, who did not speak on camera, said he spoke with the victim at 10:17 a.m. on Thursday. He said he received the phone call 20 minutes later that his friend was robbed and killed.

    “I’m fearing that the people who killed him, what if they come back and retaliate on my niece, it’s a hurting feeling for that to happen, now I’m scared for me and my family,” Earl stated.

    She says her sister’s boyfriend had a troubled past and was trying to turn his life around. 

    “So you want to take someone life over a couple of dollars, it don’t make no sense to me, turn yourself in, be man about it and woman about it because I heard it was three,” she said.

    According to police, the suspect took off in a green model hatchback eastbound on Macon.
