MEMPHIS - A man is recovering after a early Sunday morning shooting in Orange Mound. The search is still on for the gunman.

Police tell FOX13 they were called to the intersection of Park Ave. and Airways Blvd. around 1 a.m.

According to MPD, two men waiting at a stoplight were approached by a burgundy/maroon vehicle pulled up and started shooting into the car's driver’s side.

One of the two men was shot and taken to Regional One in critical condition. It is unclear if that is the driver or a passenger.

“It’s an up and coming problem in this neighborhood," said Sharina Hull, a mother of seven. "There’s always shooting going on around here and nobody’s worried about the safety of the children.”

Hull told FOX13's Tony Atkins she moved from Orange Mound several years to get away from the violence.

It is unknown if the suspect or victims knew each other.

Police tell FOX13 they're continuing to investigate.
