• Man shot on Interstate 55 ramp, heads to gas station for help

    Updated:

Memphis police spent much of the morning investigating an interstate shooting.

According to police, the victim said he was exiting Interstate-55 on the north ramp to Shelby drive when heard a pop. He realized he was shot.

He drove to a nearby gas station for help. When crews arrived on the scene, crime scene tape was wrapped around the parking lot.

We saw a car with a single bullet hole in the driver's side door.

In addition to the gas station scene, police shut down apart of the interstate in Mississippi to investigate.

    The road has since reopened.

Police said it was not in road rage. The victim didn’t notice any vehicles around him.

The victim was taken to Regional One in critical condition but has been upgraded. He is not expected to be okay.

Police are working to learn if the shooting was random or if the suspect knew whoever pulled the trigger.

No suspect information has been released.
