• Man wanted for stealing running car with 9-month-old inside at Memphis gas station


    MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Police are searching for a suspect after investigators said they stole a vehicle with a 9-month-old baby inside and took off in Whitehaven. 

    The child’s mother told police she left her vehicle running with the infant inside while she went inside the Citgo gas station on Winchester Road around 9:45 p.m. Monday.

    According to MPD, the unidentified suspect got out of a nearby black Nissan Altima, entered the victim’s 2013 Dodge Dart and immediately drove away.

    The child and the vehicle were found about 30 minutes later in the 4100 block of Orleans Road. Police said the child was unharmed.

    However, the suspect is still on the run and has not yet been identified.

    Police described the man as late teens to early 20s, thin build, with a high-top afro, white shirt, white shoes and jeans.

    The investigation is ongoing.
