DESOTO COUNTY, Miss. — A DeSoto County teacher has been charged with driving under the influence.
Ashley George, who is a DeSoto Central Middle School teacher, was arrested last week for possession of a controlled substance and DUI.
George teaches sixth grade history and science.
Parent Milton White wasn't holding back when he found out about George's arrest.
"That's not a good thing that's probably the worst thing that could ever happen in our school system," White said. "When all of us are trying to teach our children a better way. It's horrible. It's pathetic."
George, we found out taught for three years in Marshall County Schools. This is her second year at DeSoto Central Middle School.
"Maybe they should just look into it and I am not saying lose her job but give her some kind of suspension. I don't mean lose her job over it." Worley said.
FOX13 reached out to the school district to find out if she's facing any administrative punishment.
According to the Katherine Nelson, Director of Communications for DeSoto County Schools:
The employee is on administrative leave while the matter is being investigated by the school district.
We will keep you updated on the investigation on-air and online.
