    Updated:
    Mississippi turns 200 next year.

If your community wants to celebrate the historical birthday, you could get some help from the state.

Starting on December 1, the Mississippi Development Authority will begin accepting application for people to receive up to $10,000 dollars from the state's tourism budget.

In order to receive a grant from the state, your celebration will have to cover one of these themes:

    - People and stories.
    - Culture and history.
    - Music and food.
    - Outdoors and recreation.
