MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Scary moments for people living inside one Memphis high rise, after a fire broke out late Saturday night.

Seventy seven people were evacuated from their apartments and the Memphis Fire Department is still working to learn the cause.

”I heard alarms going off and I had in my mind, ‘What is going on?’” said resident Joseph Hall.

Hall told FOX13 one of his biggest fears is being stuck inside a house fire.

He almost lost his life as a kid when he was trapped inside one year ago. His sister left curling irons on a bed– ultimately destroying their home.

“That’s just something that really brings a lot of fear to me,” Hall said. “Knowing I’m in a situation where I’m burned up in a fire.”

MPD told FOX13, it happened when a fire broke out on the seventh floor.

“I’m really scared to have things plugged up because it pops in the walls and stuff,” said a resident, who chose to remain anonymous.

FOX13 reached out to the apartment for a statement on the fires, we have yet to receive a response.
