• MPD officer hits man riding bicycle

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A bicyclist  was taken to the hospital after being hit by an MPD Officer on Saturday night.

    The man was riding his bike on Raines near Wellwood when the officer hit him. While driving, the officer said the man was riding his bicycle in the middle of the road before the collision.

    According to police, the victim did not have any reflectors or lights to notify drivers he was on the road. Witnesses on the scene said they did not see the victim until after the accident.

    A FOX13 viewer sent us video footage of the scene. It shows crews working to help the injured man. He is expected to be okay.

    Neither the MPD officer or the bicyclist will be cited.
