Family and friends told FOX13 Alvin Hart was the victim in Wednesday night's deadly shooting.

Malikah Holliday said she is just thankful to be alive after experiencing what she calls a night from hell. "I saw death... just going to be honest with you. I saw death," Holliday said.

The Memphis Police Department told FOX13 two people were shot.

“They were yelling out his name," Holliday said of Alvin Hart. "He was already gone. He died right inside of there. He didn’t die at no hospital,” Holliday said.

“It’s a sad case that we can’t do that as citizens and feel comfortable doing it now that so many tragic things are happening throughout the city,” Terry Cobb said.

Terry Cobb is a lifelong friend of Hart who said Hart ran a barbershop minutes away from the restaurant he would lose his life in.

FOX13 spoke to the manager of O’Cielo who told us the shooting stemmed from a group of men wanting to enter the restaurant near closing time.

The manager said the suspects would get into a physical altercation with security, and moments later, gun shots erupted.

“I just came out to listen to music, drink, and have a good time not knowing the place was going to get shot up,” Holliday said.

Police continue to review surveillance video of the incident.

Management at O’Cielo tells FOX13 they are in works of improving their security by hiring more security guards and adding more cameras in and out of the restaurant.

“At the end of the day, we can’t question God,” Cobb said.

Police continue to search for the suspects. If you have any information that will lead police to suspects responsible, call CrimeStoppers at 528-CASH.
