Police told FOX13 the man seen in the chair, Bernard Williams, was charged with theft after he took person care items, hid them in his clothes, and tried to leave the store on a motorized shopping cart. The items totaled $63.

Williams also allegedly made a threat to shoot people in the parking lot when confronted about the theft. Officials from Kroger told FOX13 that is why the guard made the decision to restrain him, not because he had stolen items.

The video that has surfaced the web can be seen below.

“It doesn’t deserve that,” Wilson said.

FOX13 Kroger's security vendor, Central Defense, but have not received a reply so far.

Wilson believes more restraint could have been used.

“He might’ve been hungry – We don’t know,” Wilson said.

Williams is due in court early this week.
