Ole Miss releases renderings of new $50 million student union

The University of Mississippi has released renderings of their new $50 million dollar student union expansion and renovation.

The new union will double the size of the previous union and will include a student ballroom, student council room and student conference rooms. The expansion will take the building from 97,000 square feet to 175,000 square feet.

The original student Union opened in 1977. At that time, student enrollment was at 9,000, where enrollment now has topped 23,000 students.

Construction began in early July and is expected to be completed in 2019.
