Police called to shooting at Memphis church

62-year-old man shot at Whitehaven church

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police responded to a shooting at a church Monday afternoon.

MPD was called to the 1700 block of Winchester around noon Monday at the WHOLENESS in Christ Family Ministries COGIC.

FOX13 learned the church is actually in the process of moving and selling the building. A construction worker was working on making some repairs to the building when an attempted robber came in.

Police confirm that worker was shot and is being transported after an attempted robbery. Police said the victim is 64 years old and was taken in non-critical condition.

The suspect is described as an African American man, 5'6" with a medium build. He is on the run.
