MEMPHIS, Tenn. — FOX13 is learning more about the Los Angeles shooting involving South Memphis native, rapper Young Dolph.
Dolph was shot multiple times Tuesday afternoon but is expected to be okay, according to LAPD. The "Preach" rapper was reportedly hit in one of his arms and his buttocks.
Witnesses told police it all began with a fight that quickly escalated in the valet area of a Hollywood hotel.
Another Memphis rapper, Yo Gotti, was initially named as a person of interest early on in the investigation. However, LAPD confirmed the "Rake It Up" rapper is no longer considered a person of interest.
Corey McClendon, 43, was arrested in connection with the shooting Wednesday. He has been booked on a charge of attempted murder. The longtime associate of Yo Gotti is being held on a one million dollar bond.
We did some digging and learned McClendon has a past with the Shelby County court system; from misdemeanors to bench warrants.
We discovered McClendon was involved in a shooting in 2010 involving Yo Gotti at a Memphis Club. Five people were hurt in the shooting.
Yo Gotti and McClendon both turned themselves in after the shooting. However, the two were never charged.
Tuesday's incident isn’t the first time Young Dolph or his entourage has been showered with gunfire in front of a hotel.
The violence between Young Dolph and and another artist signed to Yo Gotti’s record label, Blac Youngsta, runs deep.
Back in February of 2016, a van carrying Young Dolph's entourage was shot multiple times in front of a Downtown Charlotte hotel in North Carolina.
In March of 2016, FOX13 told you about a graphic video featuring an associate of Yo Gotti, Memphis rapper Blac Youngsta.
Blac Youngsta was seen pointing guns in the video and calling for Young Dolph.
In May of that same year, FOX13 learned the MPD was adding security at the Memphis in May Beale Street Music Festival for Yo Gotti's performance.
In February of 2017, another van carrying Young Dolph's entourage was shot at more than 100 times in Charlotte, North Carolina.
