Police are not releasing the victim's name but, family identified the victim as James Bedford. Onitsha Paige told FOX13 her brother was hit in the head multiples at his home on the 600 block of Hamilton.

Police said the victim was found at 8:45 p.m. April 21.

“We don’t know nothing all we know is that my baby is dead,” Bedford’s mother Teresa Gant said.

Bedford’s family told FOX13 three people including a 2-year-old child were inside of the home when Bedford was attacked.

West Memphis police said a murder warrant has been put out for Dewayne Antonio Smith.

Smith and Bedford were in a relationship.

A captain with the police department told FOX13 Smith had just gotten out of jail for a domestic violence charge, involving the same victim that was murdered Friday.

Gant said she hopes her son’s murderer is behind bars soon so that she can receive the closure she so desperately needs.

“I’m not going to let it rest, I’m not going to do it,” Gant said.

The family said James Bedford’s body has been sent to Little Rock for an autopsy.
