MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A ten-year-old boy is dead tonight after his younger brother shot him in a Parkway Village home.
Police say the shooting happened in the 2900 block of Clearbrook St.
Detectives confirmed early on, the ten-year-old’s seven-year-old brother shot him with a gun.
Several people who have knowledge of the people who live in the home told FOX13’s Jeremy Pierre police took several children out the home after they arrived.
Louis Bomar lives in the neighborhood.
“Gun control laws are not tough enough. Kids are getting these guns and it is going to keep getting worse, it’s not going to get any better,” Bomar said.
Police say an adult inside of the home when the shooting happened told investigators the seven and ten-year-old played together in a separate room.
Investigators took a woman from the scene but it’s not clear her connection to the case.
Neighbors say they didn’t hear any gun shots.
“Well it does make you think. This is the second time in our neighborhood this has happened. Now tomorrow will it be next door to me, across from me we don’t know,” Bomar said.
Police have not charged anyone in this case.
The Memphis Police Department wants to remind everyone free gun locks are at every police station.
