• Memphis Weather: Heat Advisory in effect for much of the Mid-South

    A Heat Advisory is in effect for Shelby County including Memphis, Crittenden and Phillips counties in AR, and Desoto, Tunica, Quitman, and Coahoma counties in northern MS through 8pm as heat indices climb to 105°+ this afternoon.

    Temperatures are in the lower 90s right now with heat indices near 100°. Calm north breeze.

    Becoming partly cloudy with a stray pop-up shower this afternoon. Rain chance only around 10%.

    Light westerly breeze up to 5 mph.

    Mostly clear.

    South winds at 5 mph.

    EXTENDED FORECAST:

    Thursday and Friday will be the hottest days of the week with highs between 96°-97° and a heat index up to 105°.

    It is likely a Heat Advisory will be issued for the remainder of the week with a heat index forecast pushing 105° each day.

    Looking ahead at the weekend, a stray shower is possible Saturday with otherwise mostly sunny skies and highs near 95° and heat index up to 106°.

    Our next best chance of rain returns late Sunday, 30%. Highs still reach 92° -- but the rain will bring a little relief from the heat.
